Lessons Learned - 2011

1. Think twice or even thrice before you speak. You need to understand all the possible impact it might create in the person to whom you speak.

"Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh" (James 3:3-12)

2. Do not ever speak or act with an attitude of hurting others, even with a slight flavor of it. If you want to tell them they are wrong there is always a way to tell something. Just make sure you don't hurt them. Work on, to be patient. Scolding someone with an attitude of hurting them would be the worst attitude ever.

"Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." (Ephesians 4:29)
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalms 19:14)
--------()---------

3. Argument is not a way to make someone understand or agree what you are trying to say.

"Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.” (Proverbs 17:14)
"But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned." (Titus 3:9-11)
--------()---------

4. Do not come to any conclusion with your own personal imaginations. You might totally misunderstand someone and might even end up loosing the relationship and trust. Later you will regret for it.

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10: 42-43)
--------()---------

5. Do not add or say more than what actually is or what actually you have known. Sometimes when we add extra flavors (which is not true) to make the real statement rich or sound strong. But it might totally give a wrong perception to others instead of the truth.

"Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37)
--------()---------

6. If you want to be patient or waiting to receive something you got to totally avoid emotions and trust or believe that 'someday you will get that for which you were waiting'.

"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalms 37:4)
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
--------()---------

7. When you feel guilty, apologize. But do not stay in the same place of just feeling guilty and feeling for it. Rather think of how you can avoid it next time or even forever.

"For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity." (Proverbs 24:16)
--------()---------

8. When your heart is heavy, no matter how sad you are, just pour your heart in the presence of God and He will for sure comfort you. Always remember 'God will make a way where there seems to be no way'.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
--------()---------

9. When you are very sure you are on the side of truth, then stand for it. It is worth standing for something good rather than falling for everything. Of course it is true according to the saying 'There is no such thing as free lunch' and you have to pay a price. One day or other in future it will benefit thousands of people.

"Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." (James 4:17)

--------()---------

10. Do not give your heart for fear. Fear is not from God. Neither is confusion and sorrow. If you are caught up in fear, remember that you need to get rid of it before it spoils you to go away from God.

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." (II Timothy 1:7)
Fear damages confidence, which in turn destroys happiness, the consequence is confusion, as a result of which comes depression. Depression will project a wrong impression about yourself. Do not fear !!

--------()---------

11. Never underestimate yourself or feel inferior. You are so precious in God's sight. That's how God views you. No matter how bad or poor you are, you are still more precious for the Lord thy God has shed His blood for you.

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." (I Peter 2:9,10)
--------()---------

12. The only way through which you can follow all these things is by rejoicing in the lord in your heart always. After all that is what God expects from us.

"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalms 37:4)
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand." (Philippians 4:4)
